OPEN HOUSE AT THE FORD CENTER
The Ford Center in Oklahoma City held an open house today. The arena bowl was set up for all three sports which are played in the arena: ice for Blazers hockey, wood for the OKC NBA basketball team and artificial turf for YardDawgz indoor football. The locker rooms were also open for the tour. The final photo shows a reflection of the Ford Center in the glass of the Cox Convention Center (formerly the Myriad).

OKLAHOMA'S FAMOUS ATHLETES & COACHES MURAL AT BRICKTOWN
On July 12th, I took these photos of Oklahoma's famous athletes and coaches who are depicted on a mural near Bricktown in downtown Oklahoma City. For photos of musicians, actors and other persons on the mural, see my post for July 13th on my other blog: Oklahoma . . . and Beyond!

REMINGTON PARK
As I do not have any photos or postcards of Belmont Park, here are some photos of Oklahoma City's horse track, Remington Park. The first two were taken in December 2000, the third was shot from the ticket line for the WCWS at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium on June 3, 2008.

2008 WOMEN'S COLLEGE WORLD SERIES SOFTBALL
We decided to finally go to the NCAA Women's College World Series, and saw the 2008 final game, won by Arizona State over Texas A&M, 11-0. The evening began hot and windy and ended with a nice sunset and Arizona State celebrating their first softball championship.
The USA National team took batting practice before the game as they are in town for games this weekend against the NPF All Stars, Canada and China. Photos include pitchers Jennie Finch and Cat Osterman.
Autographs on the program include winning pitcher "Katie Burkhart # 7" in the lower right corner and "Michele Smith # 32 USA Gold X2" below Official Program in upper right corner.

WOMEN'S COLLEGE WORLD SERIES
The NCAA Women's College World Series (WCWS) is currently taking place in Oklahoma City. I only have one photograph of "ASA Hall of Fame Stadium," taken in December 2000 from the Oklahoma City Zoo.
One of the announcers on the television broadcast of the WCWS is Michele Smith, former star pitcher at OSU who also currently pitches professionally in Japan. Here is a photo of OSU's softball stadium.

OKC DOUGLASS HIGH SCHOOL
OKLAHOMA CITY'S "MAPS" PROJECTS HAVE BUILT OUR BRICKTOWN BALLPARK AND FORD CENTER (FUTURE HOME OF THE NBA'S SONICS?). MAPS HAS ALSO RENOVATED AND BUILT NEW HIGH SCHOOL BUILDINGS AND STADIUMS. PICTURED HERE ARE DOUGLASS HIGH SCHOOL'S OLD AND NEW MOSES F MILLER STADIUM.
