Congratulations to Spain for winning Euro 2008. These are photos I took at the FIFA World Cup 1994 game between Spain and South Korea at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas TX.

TULSA ROUGHNECKS - NY COSMOS
I found and scanned these photos of a NY Cosmos vs. Tulsa Roughnecks NASL soccer game at Skelly Stadium in Tulsa. I think the game was in the late 1970's. I don't know all the players' names, but Cosmos # 9 is Georgio Chinaglia and # 5 is Carlos Alberto.
In addition to this game, I also saw Johan Cruyff play in Tulsa and a playoff game in which Tulsa beat NY 3-0 in front of the largest attendance for a non-football sporting event in Oklahoma.

NCAA COLLEGE WORLD SERIES BASEBALL
The NCAA College World Series is currently taking place at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha NE. I have not been to a baseball game there. However, I drove to Omaha in November 2006 for my son's NAIA regional soccer game (Sterling College of KS vs. Park University of MO) and took these photos before we left town. The last two photos are of the Omaha Zoo entrance and Desert Dome, which are across the street behind right field and can be seen on telecasts of the baseball games.

HARRAH OK
Baseball Hall of Famers Paul and Lloyd Waner were born in Harrah. They are the only brothers enshrined in the Hall of Fame. Pictured are Harrah High School and Evans Field, home of the Harrah Panthers.
Paul Waner was known as "Big Poison;" Lloyd Waner was "Little Poison." They are included in the statues of famous Oklahoma ballplayers at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. Look at my blog entry for 3/22/08.

FATHER'S DAY
Some of my best memories of my father revolve around sports. He came to nearly every baseball game I played in and many years later came to a lot of the soccer games where I coached my son.
He took me to Municipal Stadium in Kansas City in 1961 to see the New York Yankees in a doubleheader: Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Elston Howard.
Because his father annually got free tickets, we went several times to the Indy 500, where I saw AJ Foyt win following the fiery crash in 1964.
Through the years, we also saw games at old Comiskey Park and Wrigley Field in Chicago, the Astrodome in Houston and the Texas Rangers' old stadium.
We even went to the football "Game of the Century" when Nebraska beat Oklahoma University on Thanksgiving Day 1971 and football, basketball and baseball games at Oklahoma State University.

BARRY SANDERS
I recently found this ticket from Barry Sanders' Heisman trophy-winning season in 1988. Oklahoma State University defeated Texas A&M 52-15, in what was then a non-conference game. Barry rushed 20 times for "only" 157 yards (his next to lowest total in a game that season), with 2 TDs rushing, including a 58 yard score, and a 61-yard punt return for TD.

REMINGTON PARK
As I do not have any photos or postcards of Belmont Park, here are some photos of Oklahoma City's horse track, Remington Park. The first two were taken in December 2000, the third was shot from the ticket line for the WCWS at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium on June 3, 2008.

2008 WOMEN'S COLLEGE WORLD SERIES SOFTBALL
We decided to finally go to the NCAA Women's College World Series, and saw the 2008 final game, won by Arizona State over Texas A&M, 11-0. The evening began hot and windy and ended with a nice sunset and Arizona State celebrating their first softball championship.
The USA National team took batting practice before the game as they are in town for games this weekend against the NPF All Stars, Canada and China. Photos include pitchers Jennie Finch and Cat Osterman.
Autographs on the program include winning pitcher "Katie Burkhart # 7" in the lower right corner and "Michele Smith # 32 USA Gold X2" below Official Program in upper right corner.
