OLYMPICS - 1989 OLYMPIC FESTIVAL STATUE

This statue was created for the 1989 Olympic Festival, which was held in Oklahoma City. The statue was originally installed across the street at the Myriad, now the Cox Convention Center, but has since been moved to the Ford Center.

Yes, this used to be in front of the main entrance of the Myriad. The plaque used to be on the front of the statue, and the torch on the statue used to have a live burning flame. I'm glad to see that the statue was kept, though I'm not sure why they moved it to the Ford Center. A lot of the competition occurred at the Myriad. I'm glad that they didn't just forget about the Olympic Festival. That was a lot of fun. Too bad the Olympic Festival has hit the wayside...
